Faiza J Ghafoor

North American Islamic Shelter for the Abused

Faiza (Farzana) Javed Ghafoor was born and raised in London, England. After completing her Bachelor’s and Masters in Law from University College London, she joined the Racial Equality Council supporting minorities at Employment Tribunals. In 2000, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. Her passion lies in non-profit work serving the Minority communities. For 10 years, she served at the Muslim Community Association, as the Women’s Programs and Community Development Coordinator, initiating and managing lectures, programs, and events for all ages. She has worked tirelessly to promote inclusiveness, justice, health (physical and mental), and political, social, and personal empowerment during her career.


She enjoys hiking, gardening, traveling, and reading. Recently, she has been participating in many local 10k runs. She is fluent in Urdu and Punjabi and lives in Saratoga with her husband and two wonderful sons who bring so much joy to her. She is grateful for this opportunity and is honored to be serving as NISA’s First Executive Director, Alhumdullilah.
